!Excellente!

Hey, can an excellent blogger such as myself have no recollection of how to put a digital award in her sidebar or does that disqualify me? Whatever. I guess I’m just going to have to accept it because I got one of these excellent ratings once before and I think I forgot to link it and pass it on, which makes me kind of like the equivalent of Sid Vicious skipping the Grammy awards. I mean, I know if he was alive today he probably would be hosting once they checked him out of detox for the event.

Anyway, what I’m trying to say here is thanks to Sandy Feet, the bestower of the award for thinking of me as so excellent. And thanks to the other person who did the same thing who is probably not reading this blog anymore because I forgot to post about it. But if you are by some chance looking past the external rewards of blogging and reading me still for the tremendously groundbreaking content I provide on an intermittent basis, then I’m sorry and I love you and I am now getting my act together.

How did I get here, to blog excellence you might ask?…

It wasn’t easy folks. It took a lot of typing, late nights with wailing baby on my knee. Early mornings with cat throwing up in the hallway. Long mid afternoons with snow falling repeatedly. Early evenings with dinner scorching on the burner. I guess the main point is that it took dedication and a sure knowledge that some day it would all pay off and I’d be rich and famous and in lots of magazines so reporters could make fun of my cellulite and question my parenting skills. But I couldn’t do it alone. No, that is for sure. If I didn’t have kids, my beautiful babies, then I’d have no material and this would be a rather dull work blog. And if it weren’t for my gorgeous husband Ken, who actually forced me to start blogging by setting up a cute blog for me, then I’d still just be scribbling things in my journal every day and chuckling to myself. Well, I still do that, but now those are more private things.

Who are my real heroes, my inspiration, my role models? Well, you of course, and might I point out that you’ve already received like every award that you can stuff in your sidebar or make yourself in Paint (I am proud to display my Darwin fish for example)because you’re all knowledgeable about HTML and wordpress and stuff, so I’m going to just mention you as role models Andrea/Ron, Jove and Christine/Don, Chris, Sam, Summer, Sarah, etc… (as an unrelated aside, while linking to everyone I noticed many of you have had mid-winter makeovers….cool. Makes me feel the urge to do a little housecleaning but my SAD is keeping me from really busting out the new blog skins)

Then who will I pass this award on to you wonder? (Pan camera to nervous faces attempting to appear unconcerned in audience) You all deserve it, truly. For I read you all. But tonight we are going to honor the newbies or the reawakened bloggers who I know in real life and who seem to be taking off with bloggging with the sort of vim and vigour I have not possessed since the zine making days in ‘92. Those bloggers are:

1. Justyna of Schoolless

She manages to hit on deep meaningful subjects and say a lot thought-provoking things. Her sense of humor keeps things going and her use of photos makes me very happy since as you know I can’t stand to not use a picture in my posts. Also, she’s a great mom who I love to hang out with at the beach in the summer.
2. Elizabeth of Life Learning Family
She also makes great use of the camera to document their exciting homeschool full of projects and field trips and ideas. Even though she’s been cooped up for ages carless she still has stuff going down to share. I’ve been buddies with her forever and can’t believe our kids aren’t 2 and 4 anymore. Now we’ve got some good blogging dirt.

3. Lori of Chicagolo

She’s got a new blog look and a new lease on blogging and she’s churning out the fun memes, the thoughtful posts about having children in the windy city and the awesome photos. If only she could imbed videos too she’d be perfect, but she has to hold something back to make me feel on her level. She’s a really great pal whose children seem to be interchangeable with mine several times a week.

Now go forth award winners, go on and share the excellence with your favorite bloggers of merit!

You are too funny! Aw, shucks. Gee thanks. Now I have to figure out what you mean by linking it and passing it on. I can do the video thing, so maybe this is possible too. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…
