Closed Sundays

Have barely set foot indoors this week, let alone near a computer. But I had a few minutes to pop in and say hey. I’ll be back when it rains to read the blogosphere.

Weekend meandering:

More forays in to breadmaking. This time without a bread machine and with Anoif’s willing help. It was onion cheese and devoured with our chili tonight. Yes I am interested in kneadless bread recipes. Bring em on!

Took a mom-daughter outing downtown and tried something we’ve long wanted to do….had full service tea. It was amazing and tasty and we plan to make it an annual tradition.

The rest of our outing was spent lazing around the great bean, aka cloud gate, which is apparently a people magnet. Saw quite a few comical scenarios, including two teenaged boys walking with soda cans stuck to the bottom of their shoes, a very elegantly dressed Italian gentleman smoking a cigarette and holding a pink diaper bag, and a lobstery red beefy guy in bike shorts of course wearing nothing above the waist beyond his bleach blonde mane of splendor. After awhile Anoif just started taking pictures of everything she saw. I got a gushy thank you note out of it too because she had such a blast. So did I.

Here’s one of her people watching pictures.

Came home to do a bit of gardening upkeep. No plants yet, so don’t freak out Canadians. We’re just getting things ready. Then went geocaching nearby. Bingo.

To continue along this aimless tale of rehashing, let me also say I am reading this fabulous book called the Freedom Manifesto by Tom Hodgkinson that basically is preaching to the choir in my heart. Well, there’s no theme here folks, except joy and happiness at the prospect of doing and being in a world that isn’t frozen. Lastly, since you read through all of this without ditching me, here’s a freebie that you’ll probably dig as much as we do. It’s like iTunes for video.

    On the bread…check this out.

I will not lie, I have had a few disasters, luckily all edible, but this is not as “simple” as they make it out. But, who doesn’t love something new? And what homeschooling parent would say “no” to a challenge?

Like the people watching pictures! We like letterboxing, and while finding letterboxes we often run across geocaches and hybrids…looks like you had some fun today. I’ve never had full service tea, but it looks like a ‘must do’!

The bread looks yummy! I am making some for my MIL’s birthday dinner Sunday, I am crossing my fingers it turns out…otherwise I’ll be making a quick run to the store :-)

Geocaching sounds like such fun but we haven’t had a chance to try it.

    The bread looks scrumptious.

We were downtown a couple of weeks ago. We also saw a beefy looking shirtless guy with this wonderful mane of blond hair running down Michigan Avenue by Legoland.

He had matching socks and athletic shoes and I was checking those out. (I usually can’t find my white socks as someone else is wearing them.) I think we were all supposed to be admiring ALL of him. It was a little chilly.
As he ran thru the shoppers, someone finally yelled, Hey…..
Which seemed to be what he wanted to hear as he turned around for a happy celebrity wave. I had to laugh.
He did look vaguely familiar, like some sort of pro wrestler or something sorta sketchy,
Watching people is a lot of fun.

I’m sure you’ve probably seen this, but if not, it’s the best bread I’ve ever made, hands down:
